There's nothing more in the world that I want than to be able to marry the girl I fall inlove with one day and to have the same rights as everyone else. But on the same token, I am so so thankful for the country I live in and to be able to live my day to day life without receiving the hate and violence LGBTQ people have to deal with in other countries. It absolutely blows my mind that still, in the 21st century, there are over 70 countries where homosexual acts are illegal. red color wears for a prom look sexy
... In Uganda, a law provides for a seven-year jail term for anyone who conducts a same-sex marriage ceremony.
In India it is an offence to "voluntarily [have] carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man or woman.
And that's not even the worst of it. In 11 countries, the death plenty applies to people who engage in same-sex sexual acts.
I will never understand what goes through someone's mind to even consider that it's okay to deny basic human rights to someone because of their sexuality let alone subject them to the violence that exists in some countries.
No matter if someone if gay, straight, black, blue, white or fucking alien, they should not be treated any differently to what society considers to be the 'average person'.
So even though I think this postal vote is ridiculous, I am thankful that we are given the chance to have our say, to have the opportunity to change the way Australia views 'marriage'. I am so thankful that I can express who I am and truly be supported by my friends and family because unfortunately not everyone has that. # voteyes
